In order for LED lighting to be considered an alternative to traditional lighting, it needs to offer sufficient lighting levels and reduced payback times. Once the initial outlay has been paid off, these reduced payback times offer even greater savings.

Warranty
An extensive warranty period means significant savings for the end user as maintenance costs are reduced. Device manufacturers tend to use high-end PowerLEDs, as this enables considerable warrantees (lasting 5 or more years) to be issued. This is possible because the manufacturers of LEDs issue them with official documentation on their maintenance in relation to usage. Thanks to this supporting documentation, manufacturers of devices using PowerLEDs can ensure they function at the correct temperatures, which enables a certain level of warrantee to be issued.
